When Is the Biggest Cruise Sale?
Two big peaks a year — and a steady stream of offers in between.
Price the Big Sale for My CruiseAsk ten cruisers when the biggest cruise sale happens and most will name one of two windows: the week around Black Friday, or the long early-year promotion season. Both answers are right, for different lines and different travelers. Here is how the year usually shapes up, and what the 2026 and 2027 dates look like.
Peak One: Black Friday to Travel Tuesday
Retail’s biggest shopping weekend has become cruising’s most compressed sale window. In 2026 Black Friday falls on November 27, Cyber Monday on November 30 and Travel Tuesday on December 1. Royal Caribbean’s own Black Friday page describes this stretch as its biggest sale of the year and says its savings run through Cyber Monday and Travel Tuesday. Other major lines publish Black Friday and Cyber Monday offers of their own, many starting days before the Friday itself.

The upside is intensity: many lines are promoting at once, so comparing them side by side is easy. The downside is speed. Offers can change from one day to the next, and popular sailings fill fast.
Peak Two: The Early-Year Booking Season
From January through March, cruise lines traditionally put their broadest promotions in front of the public, timed to the weeks when many households plan the year’s travel. This stretch is longer and calmer than Black Friday. It often coincides with new itineraries opening for sale, so the range of ships and dates is at its widest. If you are choosing between destinations rather than chasing one fixed sailing, the early-year season is usually the more useful of the two.
Between the Peaks
- Fall sales. Several lines run a named autumn event in September and October; in October 2026 Celebrity’s deals page led with a Fall Sale.
- Anniversary and milestone sales. Tied to a line’s own history or a ship launch, with no fixed industry date.
- Seasonal pushes. Holland America, for example, was promoting a Save on Sunshine Sale for warm-weather sailings on its deals page in October 2026.
- Close-in pricing. Lines publish last-minute offers on sailings that still have space, independent of any named event.
Which Peak Is Your Biggest Cruise Sale?
| If you are… | The event that usually matters most |
|---|---|
| Set on one ship and date already | Whichever event first covers that sailing — ask for a re-quote at each one |
| Flexible on destination | The early-year season, when the most itineraries are on offer |
| Planning a holiday-week or school-break sailing | Book early; big events rarely release the scarce cabins you need |
| Loyal to one line | That line’s own headline event, plus member offers to past guests |
| Looking at 2027 or 2028 | Both peaks; lines often include sailings well over a year away |

Timing Questions
When is the biggest cruise sale in 2026?
For many lines it is the Black Friday to Cyber Monday stretch: Black Friday is November 27, 2026, Cyber Monday November 30 and Travel Tuesday December 1. Several lines open early offers in the days before.
Is Wave Season bigger than Black Friday?
They are different in shape. Black Friday offers are concentrated into about a week; Wave Season stretches from January into March, with more sailings and new itineraries in play. Which is “bigger” for you depends on whether your sailing is included.
Do sales stop between the big events?
No. Lines keep rotating offers all year. The quieter months simply carry less marketing weight, and sometimes very good targeted prices on sailings a line needs to fill.
